Key West Chickens
The Key West Chicken is not exactly "rare" — but they are vigorously sought ! These descendants of fighting cocks are considered a pest in Key West and are routinely captured and dispatched.
Gilmerton Farm is happy to own a pair of Key West chickens rescued from the streets in 2005. They are excellent mothers and have large broods. In Key West, they routinely roam the streets eating bugs, searching for crumbs and crowing at dawn. Their prolific laying habits provide abundant amounts of eggs.
